Air Fryer Cornish Game Hens (with Cornbread Stuffing)

Do you like Cornish Game Hens? Because if you do, you absolutely have to try them in the air fryer! The oven results just DO NOT hold up to the air fryer results! It’s completely amazing! And, if you’ve ever wanted to try homemade cornbread stuffing, Lois has a recipe for you! This one is her go-to for every Thanksgiving meal! Thank you Lois for inviting me in your kitchen again this week and for sharing your cornbread recipe with us!

Air Fryer Cornish Game Hens (makes 4)

Preheat your air fryer to 380F. Rinse and dry your hens. Lightly oil your birds.

Mix together:

  • 1 tablespoons of onion powder,
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder,
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika, and
  • 1 tablespoon of poultry seasoning.

Season birds with rub. Arrange on your air fryer tray or in your basket (careful not to crowd). Air fry on 380 for 20-30 minutes (turning half way) or until the internal temp of your bird reaches 165F.

Cornbread Stuffing/Dressing

(Original recipe from Lois)

Cornbread Ingredients:

  • 1 C corn meal
  • 1 C Self-raising flour
  • 1-2 Tablespoons of sugar 
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups of buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup oil

Mix together in a bowl and bake at 400 for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Stuffing/Dressing Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of crumbled cornbread
  • ½ cup of dried bread crumbs
  • 1 cup of chopped onion
  • 2 stalks of chopped celery
  • ½ cup of chopped bell peppers
  • 1 ½ cup of turkey fat (drained from your turkey pan, or use chicken/turkey broth)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ tsp celery salt
  • 1 tsp sage
  • ½ cup of half and half
  • Salt and pepper 

Mix everything together in a baking dish and bake at 375 for 45 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
