Now that I’m in the south, the most important thing ever is getting the sweet tea right. So I asked around and the people have spoken. This is how to make the southern style sweet tea. Then to make matters even better, LTWOL/HIlivy (A Homerays Brand) sent me some Tea Glasses to test out and let them know what I liked and didn’t like. So it’s a bit of a review too! And even though I did think there were some features to improve upon, I do love these tea/beer glasses!

Thanks LTWOL/HIlivy (A Homerays Brand)!

Southern Sweet Tea Recipe:

Fill a 2 quart jar full of water and drop in 8 regular sized tea bags. Seal the jar tightly, leaving the tea tags hanging out. Place jar upside down (so the tea bags float) in a sunny place for 3 hours to make double strength sun tea.

To make your simple syrup, combine 2 cups of boiling water with 2 cups of white sugar. Stir until dissolved. Add 1/4 tsp of baking soda (helps with he bitterness some teas can have). Stir until dissolved. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature.

When tea is done, discard tea bags (be sure not to squeeze the tea bags as doing so will create a bitter flavor).

Fill 4 quart/1 gallon pitcher with ice up to the 1/2 way point (or so). Pour in the tea and the sugar mixture. Top off with more ice to reach the gallon mark.
