Artisan Sourdough Bread – Sourdough Starter
Who knew bread could bring such joy? Well I certainly hoped it would and this recipe did not disappoint. I did add more flour then called for (but only about 1/4-1/2 cup more), but all in all, I am super happy with the results! And now that I’ve gotten that first intimidating load out of the way, we will just getting bigger and better!
Recipe I used is here: https://anoregoncottage.com/easy-sourdough-artisan-bread/
Starter Recipe I used is this:
Day 1 9:00am – In glass jar, combine 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour and 2 tablespoons of warm water. Mix well. Cover loosely.
Day 1 9:00 pm – To the jar, add 1 table spoon of AP flour and 1 tablespoon warm water. Mix well. Cover loosely.
Days 2-4, repeat your 12 hour feedings.
Day 5 9:00am – add 2 tablespoons of flour and only 1 tablespoon of water. Set a timer for 4 hours. At the end of the 4 hours, do a float test (drop a little into water). If your starter floats, you are ready to do your recipe. If it sinks, continue to your evening feeding (but decrease water by 1/2 again) and try float test again in the morning. Some starters take 8 days to fully come alive.
