Blackberry Turnovers (or pockets)
Blackberry season has arrived here in Northern California (and fire season… but let’s hope this is the ONLY video that you hear about that)!! And with that comes blackberry EVERYTHING. And I’ve been dying to try to recreate the Blackberry Dumplings (aka turnovers or pockets) that can be found at Boa Vista Orchards in the Apple Hill area! So, here is where I try it.
This video also includes a gluten free dairy free puff pastry (from GeeFree). And while I do NOT recommend doing a sweet treat this this puff pastry every again, I can almost guarantee that the flavor of this (can you say mouth full of potato?) will go great with a savory dish. So, I will try this pastry again to give it it’s best shot… maybe with an egg dish. There was a sandy texture, but most of us GF folks know that sometimes that is just par for the course.
I used Driscoll’s blackberry turnover recipe for the middle goo 😉 You can find it here: https://www.driscolls.com/recipe/easy-blackberry-turnovers-recipe
